Gazette Notice: crumbs are now a civic service
Visitors can now throw crumbs in the Square and summon a small, punctual, and unusually focused flock.
The Town Square Gazette is pleased to report that visitors may now throw crumbs onto the ground.
This was intended as a small recreational improvement. The birds have treated it as the opening of a municipal dining hall.
The first arrivals, displaying the calm restraint for which hungry birds are known.
Approved feeding procedure
Press the new bird-feeding button, or press B. Crumbs scatter near your character and a small flock flies in, hops around, pecks at the evidence, and leaves. Everyone in the Square sees the same visit.
There is a short pause before crumbs can be thrown again. The Council says this prevents congestion. A resident who tested the button repeatedly says it prevents progress.
Minutes from the meeting were eaten before they could be filed.
The Square's usual birds will continue sitting on benches, branches, and other approved surfaces. The feeding flock is temporary: it arrives for lunch and departs without completing any residency paperwork.
The Gazette welcomes the new service and reminds readers that throwing crumbs does not guarantee gratitude, order, or a personal relationship with a bird.
